Prudential close to buy AIG’s Asia

British insurer Prudential PLC said Monday it was in advanced talks to buy the Asian operations of US insurer American International Group Inc. News reports say the deal could be worth around US$30 billion or more.

Rupiah weakens against US dollar on Dubai crisis

The rupiah weakened against the US dollar in the Jakarta interbank spot market here on Tuesday morning on the Dubai financial crisis.
